Test Drive the 2018 Volkswagen Golf in Glendale CA
Pop the hood of the 2018 Volkswagen Golf and you will find a 1.8-liter TSI engine four-cylinder engine that is about to reach a horsepower rating of 170 and a torque rating of 199 pound-feet. When compared to the 2018 Mazda3's 2.0-liter four-cylinder base engine that gets 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque, the new Volkswagen Golf really shines. For an extra charge, drivers can upgrade their Mazda3's base engine to a more potent one, however; while it may get a little more horsepower than the Golf (a rating of 184), the torque rating still falls flat at 185 pound-feet. Other notable performance features on the new Golf include electric power-assisted steering and a XDS Cross Differential System.
Step inside the 2018 Volkswagen Golf and you'll immediately have access to high-class amenities and comfortable materials. For example, the new Golf comes available with a newly-redesigned infotainment screen that comes with Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™ and MirrorLink®, unlike the new Mazda3 which does not yet have smartphone compatibility. The new Golf also offers more in terms of cargo space than the new Mazda3, with 52.7 cubic feet of cargo space with the back seats down compared to the Mazda3's 47.1 cubic feet with the back seats down.
