2019 Volkswagen Arteon vs 2017 Volkswagen CC
Here’s the thing about the 2018 model year for the Volkswagen lineup: There’s no full-size sedan, and there isn’t a premium offering. The CC was discontinued for this model year, while the Arteon isn’t released in North America for 2018. It’s not only left a gap in the lineup, but it also means we’re looking at two years’ worth of changes in the industry. Naturally, you might find yourself wondering what the key differences are between the upcoming 2019 Volkswagen Arteon vs the discontinued 2017 Volkswagen CC.
We expect there to be quite a lot different in the Arteon than the model that we saw leave the lineup. Obviously, it has a much more chiseled design and aggressive stance. Looks, though, aren’t the most consideration in any model. The 2019 Volkswagen Arteon is built on the updated MQB platform for an improved driving feel and its wheelbase is five inches longer for a roomier interior, despite the fastback design.

More horsepower in the VW Arteon
As you can see, the Volkswagen CC also featured a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, but it was much less powerful than the one that we will be seeing in the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon. If we really want to take a gaze back into the past, you may recall that the CC offered a V6 engine in 2016, which did offer up 280 horsepower. It’s perhaps an important trim option to remember because the V6 was the only CC option in which you could find all-wheel drive. The 2019 VW Arteon features available all-wheel drive at every trim level.
More powerful, a better platform, and oh yes, a more efficient transmission. Mechanically, it’s safe to say that the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon is a dramatic improvement over the CC.
Standard features for the Arteon include LED headlights and taillights, 18-inch aluminum- alloy wheels, V-Tex leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, keyless access with push-button start, three-zone automatic climate control and an eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
