2019 Volkswagen Beetle vs 2018 Volkswagen Beetle
We usually compare our vehicles to the competition and sometimes we compare them to other Volkswagen models, but today we are going to compare two vehicles of the same model: the 2019 Volkswagen Beetle to the 2018 Volkswagen Beetle. We decided that with the Beetle leaving us for good this year, it would be useful to show you how the final model compares to the one before it.
First of all, in price and fuel economy the two vehicles are almost the same. There is a slight increase in price for the newest model year, which has a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $20,895, compared with the 2018 Volkswagen Beetle which has a starting MSRP of $20,220. These vehicles are more similar than different. Depending on the trim level, you may find more features available on the newer Beetle model. The chart above compares the S trim level of both models, and you can see that there are very minimal differences. The fuel economy of both vehicles is 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway for a combined rating of 29 mpg.
Despite their similarities, the 2019 Volkswagen Beetle was given one thing to set it apart from its ancestors. It was given Final Edition trim levels to commemorate its leaving. The Final Edition trim levels have special design features to set them apart. There are two Final Edition trim levels, the Final Edition SE and the Final Edition SEL.
